Jena has a BA in Human Services from Western Washington University and over twenty years of early childcare experience. Since 1996, she has worked as a nanny, an infant teacher, toddler teacher, preschool teacher, mentor teacher, and director. For ten years she operated a small home-based childcare and preschool program, Tiny Tribe, in West Seattle. Jena is a trained facilitator of Steven Glenn’s “Developing Capable Young People” parenting series and Jane Nelson’s “Positive Discipline.”

Jena is excited to begin her sixth year teaching at SSC Alki Co-op and she loves the play-based curriculum, open-ended art, and focus on social and emotional development. She and her husband Scott are the proud parents of three daughters, who are two, five, and eleven years old.
